FAQs

  • Broken pipes, heavy downpours, melting snow, flash floods, broken gutters, leaky windows, cracked foundations, tree roots invading your water lines; there are many reasons why your crawl space can become flooded. Water flows downhill into the lowest areas, making its way into the tiniest of cracks and seams. The possibility of your crawlspace flooding depends on a variety of things. Idaho homes are built on top of clay which is notorious for poor drainage.

As time goes by homes shift and settle, sometimes compromising the structural integrity of the foundation. Small fractures can form allowing water to pour in. As the foundation shifts your windows can also become compromised.

  • Installing a professional pump and drainage system is the best solution however there are a few preventative measures you can take:

    • Check windows for broken seals and fix them.

    • Repair cracks in your foundation.

    • Make sure your drains are not clogged and are in working order.

    • Check your plumbing systems for any leaks or broken pipes.

    • Ensure your gutter spouts are draining properly and not letting water pool close to your home’s foundation.

    • Check your sprinkler system for any damages.

If the unthinkable has happened and your crawl space is flooded don’t panic! 208 Drainage professionals will remove all of the water in your crawlspace and install a pump and drainage solution.

  • A wet crawl space is a petri dish. Crawl spaces are full of mold, wood rot, mildew, pests, droppings that could contain dangerous pathogens, and various other nasty things. As if that weren’t enough, what goes on in the crawl space doesn’t stay in the crawl space. A certain percentage of air from your crawl space makes its way into your home’s living area via the stack effect. If that air is full of allergens, people living in the home could get sick. This is why you don’t want water in your crawl space. You want a clean, dry crawl space beneath your home.

    • A sagging or bouncy floor above the crawl space

    • Furniture that shakes when you walk by

    • Problems opening and closing window and doors

    • A musty smelling home

    • Visible mold in the crawl space

    • Pooled water in the crawl space

    • Evidence of pests in the crawl space
